About Public GMRS Inc
Public GMRS Inc is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to strengthening local and regional communication by providing publicly accessible General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) repeater systems across the United States. Our mission is to ensure that individuals, families, and communities have reliable radio infrastructure available for everyday communication and critical use during emergencies, disasters, and periods of infrastructure disruption.
We focus on building, maintaining, and responsibly operating GMRS repeaters that are open to the general public and compliant with FCC regulations. By lowering barriers to access and encouraging lawful, respectful use of GMRS, Public GMRS Inc supports practical communication readiness for emergencies while promoting technical knowledge, self-reliance, and cooperation among users.
Through community partnerships, education, and volunteer engagement, Public GMRS Inc fosters stronger connections between neighbors, outdoor enthusiasts, and emergency-minded citizens. We believe resilient communities are built on shared resources and clear communication, and we work to create a nationwide GMRS network that enhances preparedness, mutual aid, and community trust.
